Committees and Communication

The Town of Eston and the RM of Snipe Lake work together through a number of joint committees to help guide services, programs, and long-term planning for our community. These committees include representation from both municipalities and, in some cases, community members at large. Their role is to provide input, explore opportunities, and make recommendations to their respective Councils.

While committees play an important advisory role, the day-to-day operations and final decisions rest with the municipal Councils and administrative staff. For any questions, service requests, or concerns, please contact the Town or RM office directly. This ensures your inquiry is documented and directed to the appropriate person for follow-up.

Health Committee

The Health Committee is administered by the RM of Snipe Lake No. 259, with the Town of Eston as a joint funding and service partner. The committee provides input and recommendations on local healthcare matters, advocating for services and infrastructure that support the well-being of residents in both municipalities.

Cemetery Committee

The Cemetery Committee is administered by the RM of Snipe Lake No. 259, with the Town of Eston as a joint funding partner. The committee provides guidance and recommendations on the maintenance, improvement, and long-term planning of cemetery grounds. Together, both municipalities work to ensure the cemetery is respectfully maintained and meets the needs of the community.

Economic Development Committee

The Economic Development Committee is administered by the Town of Eston and operates under a 60/40 cost-sharing agreement between the Town of Eston (60%) and the RM of Snipe Lake No. 259 (40%). The committee provides recommendations on facility operations, maintenance, and capital planning to ensure shared recreational spaces meet the needs of the community.

Fire Committee

Emergency Measure Committee

The Joint EMO Committee is a collaborative body composed of representatives from both the Town of Eston and the RM of Snipe Lake No. 259. The committee is responsible for emergency preparedness, planning, and coordination to ensure a unified and effective response to local emergencies and disasters.

Landfill Committee

Library Board

The Library Board is jointly funded by the Town of Eston and the RM of Snipe Lake No. 259 and is administered by the Town of Eston. The Board provides oversight, input, and recommendations to support the operations and strategic direction of the Eston Branch of the Wheatland Regional Library.

Recreation Committee

The Recreation Committee is administered by the Town and serves in an advisory capacity, providing recommendations to both the Town of Eston and the RM of Snipe Lake No. 259. As equal funding partners in recreation services, both municipalities receive and review these recommendations for final decision-making.
